JOC accounting manager commits suicide by jumping into train ABSTRACT 8 June 2021 Independent E-wave Tokyo |
A shocking news came in. At around 9:20 a.m. today, a Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) official in his 50s jumped into a train at Nakanobu Station on the Toei Asakusa Line in Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, and was pronounced dead at the hospital where he was taken. The train driver said that the man came from the platform onto the tracks, and the Metropolitan Police Department believes that it was suicide. With less than 50 days to go before the Tokyo Olympics, a senior official of an organization that is busy preparing for the event jumped into a train. That alone is sensational, but what was even more shocking was that the man who apparently committed suicide was the head of the accounting department of the JOC. The details are not yet known, but as the head of the accounting department, it is likely that he had a grasp of the flow of money involved in the Tokyo Olympics. And we cannot help but be reminded of the allegations of "bid buying" by Tsunekazu Takeda, the former chairman of the JOC. TO BE CONTIUED |
